Region: Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits
The Côte de Nuits is famous for its red wines from Pinot Noir, although some white wines are made as well. The red wines in general seem to have a bit more concentration and aging potential than the reds from the southern part of the Côte d'Or: Côte de Beaune.
The Côte d'Or has such big differences between vineyards and their terroir that it is split up in tiny parcels that each have a distinct name. Depending on the quality of the soil, the orientation towards the sun and the microclimate, a vineyard gets a specific classification.
