Red: 74%, White: 25%The Côte de Nuits is famous for its red wines from Pinot Noir, although some white wines are made as well. The red wines in general seem to have a bit more concentration and aging potential than the reds from the southern part of the Côte d'Or: Côte de Beaune.

- Next in level are the Premier Cru wines. They mention the name of the village and often the name of the Premier Cru vineyard, unless it is a blend of several Premier Cru vineyards, in which case only the village name is given.
- The highest level is Grand Cru. The labels tend to mention just the name of the vineyard, for instance "Bonnes Mares". The rest of the information (such as that it is a Bourgogne wine from the village Chambolle Musigny) is considered to be too obvious to mention.
