Thandi Chardonnay

A white wine made from Chardonnay
Brand: Cultivar: Thandi Chardonnay Vintage: 2007 Region: Elgin Vineyard / Yield: 8 – 10 t/ha Type of climate: Mediterranean climate, cool summers, rainfall mostly in winter Vinification / oaking details: Skin contact was given before fermentation. Wine fermented in 30% new French oak barrels and was aged for another 8 months on the lees. Tasting notes: The wine is concentrated with well balanced fruit and oak, showing aromas of citrus and orange blossom on the nose and hints of vanilla on the palate. Storage period: Store horizontally in a cool place. Drink within 3-4 years from vintage. Suitable for vegans / vegatarians: This wine is suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans. Thandi Pinot Noir

A red wine made from Pinot Noir
Brand: Thandi Cultivar: Pinot Noir Vintage: 2007 Region: Elgin Vineyard / Yield: 8 – 10 t/ha Type of climate: Mediterranean climate, cool summers, rainfall mostly in winter Vinification / oaking details: The whole berries were given a cold soak for 4 days before fermentation. After fermentation, 50% of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and then all of the wine was transferred to French oak barrels for a 10 month maturation. Tasting notes: This wine shows bright cherry fruit aromas which are well integrated with the oak aromas and carries through onto the palate. The silky smooth tannins ensure a well-rounded finish with a lingering aftertaste. Storage period: Store horizontally in a cool place. Drink within 5-6 years from purchase. Brand: Thandi Cultivar: Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage: 2007 Region: Elgin Vineyard / Yield: 8 – 10 t/ha Type of climate: Mediterranean climate Vinification / oaking details: Fermented on the skins until dry, in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels, where it aged for 24 months. Tasting notes: A deep red colour with black currant fruit and roasted coffee-bean flavours on the nose and a firm tannin structure on the finish. Storage period: Store horizontally in a cool place. Drink within 3 – 5 years from vintage. Suitable for vegans / vegatarians: This wine is suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans. Brand: Thandi Cultivar: Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot Vintage: 2009 Region: Western Cape Vineyard / Yield: 8 – 10 t/ha Type of climate: Mediterranean climate Vinification / oaking details: Merlot harvested end February and Cabernet Sauvignon mid March. Fermentation on skins in stainless steel tanks for 5 days with regular pump overs, 3 times per day. Fermented on skins until dry. After malolactic fermentation, 10% of wine was transferred into 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels for 8 months. Tasting notes: This classic blend has pleasant cassis and red berry flavours, a concentrated palate and a balanced, rounded finish. Storage period: Drink within 1 – 2 years from purchase. Food suggestions: Serve at room temperature with roast lamb or beef and rich oxtail stew. Alcohol vol %: 14% RS: 4.5g/l TA: 5.6 g/? pH: 3.5

Tasting notes: A fresh and crispy wine with a pleasant combination of ripe tropical fruit flavours and hints of green figs, a well balanced mid-palate and a lingering finish. Storage period: Drink within 1-2 years. Suitable for vegans / vegatarians: Suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans. Food suggestions: Serve chilled with salmon dishes, risotto and salad. Thandi Shiraz - Cabernet Sauvignon

Brand: Thandi Cultivar: Shiraz / Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage: 2009 Region: Western Cape Grape Variety in Blend 70% Shiraz – 30% Cabernet Sauvignon Vineyard / Yield: 8 – 10 t/ha Type of climate: Mediterranean climate, cool summers, rainfall mostly in winter Vinification / oaking details: Grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks for 7-10 days, and oaked with chips during fermentation, after which they were pressed and left in tank to complete the malolactic fermentation. The Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in French oak barrels for about 9 months, and the Shiraz was treated with French and American oak chips. Tasting notes: A concentrated, full-bodied modern blend with upfront dark berries and smoky aromas, smooth ripe tannins and a lingering aftertaste. Storage period: Store horizontally in a cool place. Drink within 3-5 years from purchase. Suitable for vegans / vegatarians: This wine is suitable for vegetarians but not for vegans.
